CASE FOR SUPPORT
The Nebraska Children’s Home Society charges no fees and receives no tax support for for its adoption programs and services. Although Nebraska Children’s Home sometimes receives daily stipends from the state of Nebraska for children in our foster care program, the Foundation is the primary source of funding for the Society. The Foundation raises money to fund 100% of the Society’s adoption program. Because we do not charge fees for these services, we depend upon private contributions to support our mission of serving children.
Grant to the Society
The Foundation provides financial grants to NCHS to fund programs. Here are just a few of those adoption programs and services provided by Nebraska Children’s Home Society that your donation makes possible.
- Hospital and medical expenses for birth mothers and children
- Adoptive planning, including pre-placement meetings, home studies, court reports, record maintenance, post-adoptive services and meetings, caseworker travel expenses, support groups, workshops, and retreats
- Pregnancy education and support
- Birth parent services including some pregnancy-related expenses, clothing and incidentals, pre-placement education and support, post-placement education and support, and support groups
- Adoption education including publications, literature, advertising, books, workshops, and retreats
- Administrative costs
Additionally, the Foundation helps to financially support our Foster Care and Specialized Child Care programs provided by NCHS.
Foster Care program
- NCHS has numerous children with our 40 + foster care families.
- The majority of NCHS’ foster care children are medically fragile, meaning they are living with everything from the effects of fetal alcohol syndrome to spending months awaiting organ transplants.
- NCHS foster care caseworkers offer ongoing support for our foster care families.
Specialized Child Care Programs
- The specialized child care program at Nebraska Children’s Home Society teaches children appropriate academic, social and life skills – ultimately striving for each child to be successful at home, at school and in the community.
- The NCHS child care staff members work in tandem with the child’s parents, foster parents and educators, providing parenting information and support for the child’s ongoing progress.
- The child care program works with children ages 2-7 years old.
Since 1893, Nebraska Children’s Home continues to grow. Each year, we add more services that help children to find loving homes, more workshops that help adoptive couples become better parents and more programs for educating people about making positive plans for children. We don’t plan on slowing down, and we need your help so that we can continue to provide these programs and services without charging any fees to those who need them.
If you believe in helping children to grow and develop in the best possible situation…If you believe in educating people about the positive attributes of adoption…If you believe in helping all children to achieve their dreams, please give what you can so that we can see to it that more of those dreams come true. DONATE NOW.
